Foodjoy Beef Jerky Flavour Reviews

I’d never noticed Foodjoy’s Beef Jerky before but found it in my local Foodworks recently. These 26g bags are very small. I know I’ve previously complained about some beef jerky brands such as The Jerky Co. making their bags too big, but the size of these bags seems more like a sampler pack than a snack.

Foodjoy Garlic Pepper Jerky Review

My first thoughts when opening this was that it’s good to see that Foodjoy Beef Jerky is made from proper strips of beef, unlike Jacklink’s. The flavour of garlic and pepper is quite strong. I really like combinations of spice and garlic, however, I prefer spices from chilli rather than peppercorns.

The meat is sliced quite thinly compared to the chunkier Original Beef Chief products, which means you can eat one of these little bags

Ingredients: Australian Beef, Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Coriander Powder, Paprika, Sugar, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, White Pepper, Potassium Sorbate.

Allergens: Contains traces of wheat & soy.

Foodjoy Teriyaki Jerky Review

The Teriyaki Jerky was the first pack I grabbed off the shelf. It has a very mild teriyaki sweetness to it and seems to have a dryer and crunchier texture to it than the previous garlic pepper flavour. Again it is quite thinly cut and is very easy to chew.

I enjoyed this more than the Garlic Pepper.

Ingredients: Australian Beef, Sugar, Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Coriander Powder, Paprika, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, White Pepper, Potassium Sorbate.

Allergens: Contains traces of wheat & soy.

Foodjoy Peri Peri Jerky Review

Whilst I’ve love spicy food, Peri Peri isn’t my favourite type of spice, but I grabbed this anyway as I wanted to try something hotter. Again, this is very thin and dry, but the Peri Peri taste is quite good. It’s a good level of heat that you can handle without needing a glass of water nearby.

I also enjoyed this one more than the Garlic Pepper and probably similarly to the Teriyaki, but in a different way as they are very different flavours.

Ingredients: Australian Beef, Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Vinegar. Coriander Powder, Paprika, Sugar, Chillies, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, White Pepper, Potassium Sorbate.

Allergens: Contains traces of wheat & soy.

Other Notes

It just now occurred to me what makes this brand feel so dry compared to some of the other jerky brands I’ve reviewed recently is that these do not come with an oxidizer sachet. This is likely due to the thinness of the meat, whilst some other chunkier jerkies must retain a bit of moisture.

I like that their packets suggest that as well as eating as a snack, this jerky is good for adding into soups or stews and can be cut into smaller pieces and added to salads. I wouldn’t mind giving that a go.

About Foodjoy

Foodjoy is best known for pork crackle products and dried fruits. They are located in Brisbane Australia.

Conclusion

This jerky is pretty good. I’d definitely consider trying some of their other flavours as well now, such as their BBQ Beef and maybe their Sweet Chilli. I wouldn’t rate it as high as Original Beef Chief or The Jerky Co. but it’s better than Jacklink’s and Local Legends.
