I’ve only had Byron Beef Jerky a few times before. As far as jerky brands that is commonly bought in Australian supermarkets, this is definitely one of the better ones. It appears to be made of proper cuts of beef, unlike Jacklink’s which seems to be made out of a ground-up paste.
The meat is fibrous like a good quality jerky like that by Original Beef Chief, yet much softer, which might give it the wider appeal that landed it in supermarkets to begin with. After smashing down this bag in one go, my jaws are only a little bit tired, which is probably a good thing. I really wear myself out on some other brands.
I chose to try the BBQ Cheeseburger jerky as it was definitely the most unique flavour in the range available at the Coles or Woolworths that I bought this from. It is the first time I’ve come across a cheesy jerky as far as I can recall and it’s actually pretty good.
I am surprised more companies haven’t done this. This comes from the ingredient “cheeseburger seasoning” which I’m sure other companies could get their hands on if they wanted to.
