Butchermans Fine Foods: Beef Jerky Flavour Reviews

I bought two flavours of Buthermans Fine Foods Beef Jerky at my local Foodworks recently. These are both 40g bags and come in Hot Chilli and Teriyaki flavours. They also produce Original and Aussie BBQ flavours. I tend to skip over any “Original” flavours and go for the spicier stuff and also left the Aussie BBQ behind.

Hot Chilli

I tried the Hot Chilli first, and I’ve gotta say it’s quite good. These are thin cuts of real steak and are not completely dried out or stiff like NT or Foodjoy Jerky. Like Original Beef Chief Jerky, it comes with an oxidiser packet, which seems to be the trend for the less-dry jerky brands. I think this is one of my preferred styles of jerky.

Ingredients: Australian Beef (90%), Vinegar, Soy Sauce, Sriracha Spice/Glaze, Molasses, Brown Sugar, Mineral Salt (451, 452, 450 (Sulphates)). Antioxidant (316), Sodium Nitrite (250), Chilli Flakes, Herbs & Spices, Celery Powder, Potassium Sorbate.

Allergen Warning: Contains traces of Soy, Sulphate and Peanuts (the packaging machine used for this also packages peanuts).

Teriyaki

The first thing that came to my mind when tasting this is that the flavour reminds me a lot of Jacklink’s Jerky. I guess this makes sense as Jacklink’s also has a Teriyaki jerky so that’s probably the one I’m thinking of. The difference here is that this is made of proper cuts of meat and is of higher quality. I’m really enjoying this one. I think I actually prefer it to the Butchermans Hot Chilli flavour.

Ingredients: Australian Beef (90%), Vinegar, Soy Sauce, Liquid Smoke, Teriyaki Sauce, Molasses, Brown Sugar Mineral Salt (451, 452, 450 (Sulphates)). Antioxidant (316), Sodium Nitrite (250), Herbs & Spices, Celery Powder, Potassium Sorbate.

This has the same allergen warning as the Hot Chilli.

Conclusion

Butchermans Beef Jerky is a quality Australian jerky brand and definitely one of the better ones found at independent supermarkets and is definitely better than anything you’ll find at Coles or Woolworths.
