Ian Watkins is Dead: Good Riddance

Trigger warning: this article discusses child sexual abuse, prison violence, and public reaction to death.

The Monster Meets His End

Ian Watkins, former Lostprophets frontman turned convicted predator, is finally gone. On 11 October 2025, he was stabbed to death in HMP Wakefield, the notorious “Monster Mansion” prison. Two fellow inmates, aged 25 and 43, have been charged afterWatkins was found with his throat slashed and pronounced dead at the scene.

This isn’t a tragedy. Watkins spent his final years in a cell after pleading guilty to 13 offences, including attempted rape of a baby. He had already survived one stabbing back in 2023, but this time, the inevitable caught up with him. If you’re shocked he was killed, you’ve been living under a rock.

The Internet Parties on His Grave

When the news broke, the internet didn’t hold back.

One of the most-shared reactions declared: “Ian Watkins dead. I’ll fucking drink to that. Whoever did it, get that man a deluxe cell with Sky Sports on an 86-inch TV.”

Another post cut straight to the point: “Rot in hell #IanWatkins.”

Social feeds were so one-sided that even outlets reported howsocial media erupted in near-unanimous relief and even celebration. When people are openly suggesting Nobel Peace Prizes for your killer, you know you’ve left the world with zero sympathy.

His Ex Said What We’re All Thinking

Watkins’s former partner, Joanne Mjadzelics, the woman who bravely helped bring him down, didn’t mince words either. She admitted she had been “waiting for this phone call” and called his death a relief. She described Watkins as a mask, a lie, and said she felt a weight had lifted.

That sums up what millions were thinking: good riddance.

Why The Celebration?

Let’s not sugarcoat it. Watkins wasn’t just another fallen rock star with demons. He was a predator who groomed fans, exploited children, and left scars that will never heal. The list of reasons people are glad he’s dead is long, but here are the headlines:

The public celebration isn’t surprising because:

  1. He was a prolific predator who admitted to 13 child sex offences, which included attempting to rape babies.
  2. He used his fame as a weapon against the vulnerable, often using it as a way to perpetrate his crimes.
  3. Now, with his death, there’s no parole hearing, no comeback interview, no twisted second act. Good riddance.

Cigars, Cars & Guitars Doesn’t Miss Him

We often highlight the positive aspects of the music industry, but we must also recognize its corruption. Watkins did not support anything good. He represented rot, manipulation, and abuse within an industry full of such acts. So, no, we won’t mourn him.

Instead, we’ll say it plainly: Ian Watkins is dead, and that’s a damn good thing. One less monster breathing our air, one less predator hiding behind a guitar. For once, the internet got it right: raise a glass, pour a stiff drink, light a cigar. The world is better off without him.
