BEER SIZES BY STATE
Australia’s beer glass sizes are notoriously varied by location, which makes ordering a glass a genuine test of local knowledge. While a schooner, meaning 425ml, is a popular and fairly consistent term across most of VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD, NT, WA, and TAS, South Australia uniquely refers to this size as a pint.
Similarly, the 285ml glass known as a middy in NSW, ACT, and WA becomes a pot in VIC, QLD, and TAS, and confusingly, a schooner in South Australia. The largest common size, the pint – of 570ml – is generally uniform across the country, though South Australia once again distinguishes itself, using “imperial pint” for this measure.
